  • What text type are you writing (narrative, expository, persuasive, technical)
  • What is your purpose?

  • Skip lines on your paper
  • Don't worry about making mistakes, you will fix them later.

Revising: Make it Better
  • Self Edit: Read your draft to yourself
    • Does it make sense?
    • What can you do to make it better?
  • Peer Edit: Read your draft to a friend.
    • What did your friend like?
    • What could use improvement?
  • Don't focus on conventions, you will work on this during editing.
  • Which traits are strong in your draft, which seem weak?
  • Make changes to your draft concentrating on the weakest trait.

Editing: Fix the Mistakes

  • Check your conventions: spelling, capital letters, and punctuation
